On May 5th, 2018 I graduated from college with a B.S in Fashion Merchandising and a Minor in Psychology. This experience has been the most eye-opening yet rewarding. It is like a dream come true. Ever since I was a young girl I always envisioned myself graduating college, but did I ever envision my future career path? No. Like most post-grads or college students, some of us may have an idea on what career path we may want to pursue and others do not. Guess what? It is okay. Enjoy, experience and adventure your 20-somethings while you are still young. You only live once, right? Why not enjoy the little freedom you have left and discover what is your goals and future plans. Since most of us reading this are a post-graduate, fresh out of college, chances are you will highly be at a juncture in life where you are simply tired of studying and making researches and are waiting to start the next chapter of life. As millennials, we are constantly trying to keep up with the latest trends, news and technology, but can that help detect who we are as an individual? At an early age, I have always been installed that education is very important and I may need to follow the "school path" the right way. Why is that? Why can we just venture out and try to figure things out on our manner? Do not get me wrong, I am PRO school, but we all learn in our own pace and have a certain drive for ourselves.
As a first-generation college student, I am constantly pressured to figure out what it is best for my family and myself. The "Real World" is very frightening but do not worry, it is just trying to challenge us. Trust me, once you conquer it, it will seem a lot smoother to you. Nothing comes easy in life. Always stay patient, inspired and determined!
Word of advice: Always do what your heart desires and listen to the random signs that are being presented in your life. Remember, we are still young and professional. You want to find yourself settled in an environment you love and can relate to. Everything takes time; DO NOT QUIT! Enjoy your 20s, and take this time to think and reflect on your life. I am pretty sure must of us have been in school for 16-18 years, right? Take this time to decide what is your next step. Do not be afraid to fall, and if you do, it is normal because I know you are very strong and can defeat these challenges. LIVE. LOVE. & ENJOY your youth. (Trust me, it will not last long lol) Admire the smallest things because one day it will become a major presence in your life.
Love you all,
Ash <3
